Summer is always in a good mood. She goes to sleep happy and wakes up happy.
My husband's morning regimen includes sending blood pressure readings via a device to a nurse who monitors his vitals.
He and Summer know this, yet here they are. He is still wearing the blood pressure device on his wrist but is not using it as intended. I tell them there is a time and place and that we can't play all the time.
Nobody listens to me.
Especially, since my husband tied a whole bunch of old socks together to use for tug of war.
We might have different priorities.
Everything will get done after playtime, I guess.
Time to get breakfast cooking.

I ran a ton of food to my daughter's house today.
I think it was good for me to get out of the house.
Her garden was beautiful as always.
Byron followed me around the whole time.

Lessons in aerodynamics.
Check out her ears.
I asked which position gives her more lift. She says it is complicated.
The flat ears are less resistance, and ears up (not to be confused with elbows up) give her a bit more lift.
She is always working to perfect her technique.
I don't know a lot about such things but I think she is perfect all the time.

Today I feel better.
I am so thankful for every minute I am not coughing.
Summer is happy to get back to our regular routine. She is a funny dog.
I have been sleeping in later since I've been sick. Today, I thought I might crawl back into my warm bed to text with the grandkids instead of staying up in the cold. It seems that Summer had the same idea and she beat me to the warm spot. So much for that.
We were able to surprise the kids with an upgrade to a fancy hotel at Disneyland. They are having a fabulous time and will spend the day at the park.
We are getting a constant stream of fun Disney pictures.
Summer says she will help me in the garden today. I said great!

I don't know much about dogs but after my last toot I started to wonder why Summer is such an enthusiastic weeding partner, but she never pulls up plants on her own.
It's a mystery.
My garden is safe.
Time for me to fix some lunch for her pal and for Summer to take a well earned rest.

I accompanied Summer as she carefully inspected the perimeter of her front acre. Her morning ritual since she moved in with us.
The area behind the blueberries seemed particularly suspect for some reason.
In the end all was well. You can't take these things for granted though.
We also planted more vegetable seeds today and started prepping the potato patch.
Today's mail included a postcard from New Zealand! We were pretty excited. Loving the #PostcardSwap
Life on this Saturday morning is good.

Summer is happy to report that her pal feels much better this morning. His fever broke overnight and he is up and around. His voice even sounds back to normal.
We are all relieved. Summer is especially happy to be able to play with him.
The three of them, Summer, her pal and the chicken, were watching me prepare the blueberry raspberry muffins that he requested for breakfast. I said I would cook whatever he wanted.
They were happily playing together with the chicken until it tried to escape. Summer looked at me to pick it up off the floor, because she was all cozy hugging her pal. I said ok, I would pick it up once, but then I caved, and did it twice. Those pleading eyes get me every time.

I always stuff a leash in one of my jacket pockets, but unless there are other people around I let Summer run, and keep her under voice control.
Today, I decided to bring a walking stick so that meant that my hand wasn't in my pocket to keep the leash there.
I didn't notice, it was gone, until I saw some people heading our way.
The leash must have worked it's way out of my pocket.
We were going to need it so I sent Summer back to find where it fell.
I followed along but she found it before I did.
She always comes through, and is such a good girl.

We walked and we walked. To the beach and back. It took us ninety minutes.
By the time we got home we were both ready for some breakfast.
You can't tell but it was pretty cold. I thought Summer might want to stay dry and maybe warmer. I thought wrong.
We saw the owl hunting again and lots of mallards.
